Certified Scaffolder

Job Summary

The Certified Scaffolder is responsible for the safe erection, modification, inspection assistance, and dismantling of scaffolding systems in accordance with project requirements, applicable safety regulations, and industry standards. The role requires strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Erect, modify, and dismantle scaffolding structures as per approved drawings, work instructions, and project specifications.
  • Ensure all scaffolding components are installed safely and securely using approved methods.
  • Inspect scaffold materials before use and report any damaged or defective components.
  • Follow the instructions of the Scaffolding Supervisor and Site Engineer during all scaffold-related activities.
  • Ensure scaffolds are erected in compliance with local regulations and international safety standards.
  • Install guardrails, toe boards, access ladders, platforms, and other safety features as required.
  • Assist in scaffold inspections and rectify any deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping in scaffold work areas.
  • Comply with all Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and HSE training sessions.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses to the supervisor.
  • Ensure scaffolding materials are stored, handled, and transported safely to prevent damage and hazards.
  • Coordinate with other trades to minimize work interruptions and ensure safe access for all personnel.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Certified Scaffolder certification from a recognized training provider.
  • Additional HSE certifications are an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Certified Scaffolder in construction, industrial, oil & gas, infrastructure, or data center projects.
  • Experience with tube-and-fitting, modular, or system scaffolding is preferred.

Required Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of scaffolding erection and dismantling procedures.
  • Ability to interpret scaffold drawings and basic technical instructions.
  • Good understanding of scaffold load capacities and stability requirements.
  • Knowledge of HSE regulations and safe work practices.
  • Physically fit and capable of working at heights.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high safety standards.

Certifications

  • Valid Certified Scaffolder Certificate (mandatory).
  • Working at Height Certification (preferred).
  • Basic First Aid (preferred).
  • HSE Induction or Safety Training Certificate (preferred).

Working Conditions

  • Outdoor and indoor project environments.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • May require overtime, shift work, weekends, and emergency call-outs depending on project requirements.
