Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – Contract / Part-Time Oil and Gas Pipelines

Ryanco Construction is a Class A General Engineering & C-34 Pipeline contractor serving Southern California’s oil & gas, utility, and energy-infrastructure sectors. We support mid- to small-scale mechanical and civil projects, pipeline work, and specialty scopes for major operators and contractors. We are growing and seeking a qualified Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support QA/QC and compliance requirements on an as-needed basis.

Role Overview

We are looking for a knowledgeable, dependable CWI to support project weld inspections, procedure verification, documentation, and overall welding compliance on pipeline, mechanical, and structural scopes. This position is part-time / contract with flexible scheduling depending on project needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform weld inspections per AWS/API/ASME codes
• Review WPS, PQR, WQR documentation for compliance
• Provide QA/QC oversight for pipeline, mechanical, and structural welding
• Support project documentation packages and client compliance requirements
• Assist in building Ryanco’s internal QA/QC system and procedures
• Provide on-call guidance or inspection support during active project phases
• Generate clear and professional inspection reports

Qualifications

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) — active certification required
• Experience with oil & gas, utilities, pipeline, terminal, or industrial environments preferred
• Familiarity with API 1104, ASME B31.1, B31.3, structural welding codes
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and professionally with clients on job sites
• Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Compensation

• Competitive hourly rate based on experience (open to discussion)
• Contract / 1099 structure
• Flexible scheduling — project-based needs
