The Opportunity

We are seeking a distinguished and visionary leader to assume the role of Chairman of the Urology Department. This is a pivotal executive position responsible for providing strategic direction, clinical leadership, and administrative oversight to a high-volume, advanced urology service. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished surgeon and a dynamic leader capable of inspiring a team of urologists, driving clinical innovation, and ensuring the delivery of world-class patient care across all urological subspecialties.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Vision:

  • Develop and execute the long-term strategic vision for the Urology Department in alignment with the hospital's overall mission and goals.
  • Provide executive leadership to all urological subspecialties, including Oncology, Endourology, Laparoscopic/Robotic Surgery, Female Urology, Neurourology, and Pediatric Urology.
  • Drive clinical excellence, innovation, and the adoption of new surgical technologies and treatment methodologies (e.g., robotic surgery, advanced laser systems).

Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure the delivery of the highest quality, evidence-based surgical and clinical urology care.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor clinical protocols, policies, and procedures to meet and exceed international accreditation standards (CBAHI, JCI).
  • Champion a culture of continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and surgical risk management within the department.

Administrative & Operational Management:

  • Manage the department’s financial performance, including budgeting, revenue cycle, resource allocation, and cost control.
  • Optimize operational workflows to maximize efficiency, OR utilization, and patient throughput.
  • Oversee the procurement and maintenance of state-of-the-art urological equipment and supplies.

Academic & Professional Development:

  • Foster a strong academic environment by promoting clinical research, publications, and participation in scientific conferences.
  • Lead the recruitment, mentoring, training, and performance evaluation of urology staff, including consultants, specialists, and residents.
  • Develop and oversee accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs for departmental staff.

Collaboration & Representation:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Urology Department and hospital executive management, other clinical departments (e.g., Oncology, Nephrology, Radiology), and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the department in hospital-wide committees and contribute to organizational strategic planning.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulations set forth by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and other relevant governmental bodies.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Medical Degree (MD or MBBS) from an accredited institution.
  • American Board of Urology (ABU), Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Urology, or equivalent Western certification is mandatory.
  • Valid SCFHS license as a Consultant in Urology (or eligibility for immediate transfer/classification).
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of post-certification experience in Urology, with at least 5-7 years in a significant leadership role (e.g., Division Head, Department Chair, or Program Director) within a large hospital or academic medical center.
  • Proven track record in complex urological surgeries and a strong history of clinical leadership, departmental administration, and financial management.
  • Demonstrable experience in teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Previous leadership experience in the Middle East/GCC region.

Desirable:

  • Fellowship training in a urological subspecialty (e.g., Oncology, Robotic Surgery, Endourology).
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA).
  • Proven experience with robotic surgical platforms (e.g., Da Vinci).
