Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Chartering Manager (Dry Cargo & Operations) to oversee chartering activities, vessel operations, cargo movements, and commercial negotiations within the dry bulk shipping sector. The ideal candidate will possess strong market knowledge, operational expertise, and an established network across key global trading regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead dry cargo chartering activities and identify profitable business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with ship owners, charterers, traders, and brokers.
- Negotiate and conclude charter party agreements for dry bulk vessels.
- Manage vessel fixtures from negotiation through voyage completion.
- Oversee voyage operations, cargo execution, and vessel performance.
- Monitor laytime, demurrage, dispatch, and freight settlements.
- Analyze freight market trends, commodity movements, and regional trade flows.
- Track bunker prices, port congestion, and operational risks affecting voyages.
- Coordinate with vessel owners, agents, surveyors, and port authorities.
- Ensure compliance with charter party terms, maritime regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Resolve operational issues, disputes, and claims in a timely manner.
- Prepare market reports and provide commercial insights to management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Dry Bulk Chartering, Vessel Operations, or Commercial Shipping.
- Strong experience in Handysize, Supramax, and other dry bulk vessel segments.
- Proven track record in chartering, vessel operations, and fixture execution.
- Deep understanding of maritime law, charter party agreements, and shipping documentation.
- Experience handling laytime calculations, demurrage claims, and voyage management.
- Strong knowledge of Gencon, Norgrain, Asbatankvoy, and other standard charter party forms.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and commercial decision-making abilities.
- Existing industry network and client relationships will be highly preferred.
