Job Title: Chemical EngineerJob Summary

The Chemical Engineer will design, develop, and optimize chemical processes and equipment used in large-scale industrial operations within the oil & gas and process plant sectors. This role focuses on improving efficiency, ensuring safety, reducing operational risks, and maintaining high product quality. The engineer will work closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to support new installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, evaluate, and optimize chemical processes for oil & gas and industrial process plants.
  • Perform detailed chemical process design, including mass/energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs.
  • Select equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, reactors, separators, compressors, and distillation systems.
  • Conduct hazard identification and safety studies (HAZOP/HAZID) and perform risk assessments.
  • Implement and enforce safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain quality control procedures and documentation.
  • Analyze plant performance data to identify improvements that increase reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues related to process equipment and plant systems.
  • Support project execution from conceptual engineering through commissioning and start-up.
  • Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical process design, equipment selection, and system optimization.
  • Deep understanding of safety standards (OSHA, API, NFPA, ISO) and quality control systems.
  • Proven experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or large industrial process plant operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and process diagrams.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle (required for site travel).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, Petro-SIM, ChemCAD).
  • Familiarity with FEED and EPC project workflows.
  • Track record of contributing to major industrial projects, plant upgrades, or expansions.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering and continuous improvement methodologies.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office-based engineering work and on-site plant activities.
  • Requires wearing PPE and following strict safety standards.
  • Occasional travel to project sites, clients, or vendor facilities using personal vehicle.
