Job Title : Chemist

Location : Environment Audit Laboratory, Parul University

Job Summary :


Parul University invites applications for the position of Chemist in its NABL-accredited and GPCB-recognized Environmental Audit Laboratory. The role involves assisting in environmental sampling, laboratory analysis, preparation of environmental audit reports, and supporting GPCB audit and NABL documentation activities. The chemist will contribute to technically competent analysis of trace metals, PAHs, PCBs, and pesticide residues in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and applicable and international regulatory guidelines, ensuring quality control, data integrity, and audit readiness for MoEFCC/CPCB/GPCB/NABL approvals and renewals.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Ensure implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of laboratory systems in line with MoEFCC recognition criteria, including infrastructure adequacy, manpower competency, instrumentation, and quality systems.
  • Plan, supervise, and execute qualitative and quantitative analysis of trace metals, PAH, PCB, pesticide residues, technicals, and formulations in environmental, agricultural, and industrial samples using validated approved analytical methods in compliance with MoEFCC-approved methodologies, relevant notifications, and statutory guidelines under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain advanced analytical instruments such as UV-Vis spectrophotometer, AAS, ICP, ICP-OES,ICP-MS, GC, GC-MS/MS, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, , and related sample preparation systems as per MoEFCC and NABL requirements.
  • Develop, validate, and verify test methods in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, BIS, USEPA, ASTM, AOAC, CIPAC, FAO and relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop, review, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), test protocols, and quality manuals as required for MoEFCC application, surveillance, and renewal of laboratory recognition.
  • Ensure compliance with NABL accreditation requirements, including documentation control, method validation, measurement uncertainty, internal quality control, and proficiency testing (PT/ILC) programs.
  • Review and authorize test results, calibration data, chromatograms, and final analytical reports prior to release.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures, including use of CRMs, blanks, spiked samples, control charts, recovery checks and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate preparation and submission of documentation related to MoEFCC laboratory application, renewal, and audit compliance, including scope of recognition, equipment details, analyst competency, and test capabilities.
  • Supervise and train laboratory personnel to ensure technical competency, regulatory awareness, and adherence to approved testing protocols.
  • Maintain laboratory records, logbooks, chain of custody, SOPs, calibration schedules, instrument performance data and document control as per quality management system requirements to ensure data integrity, traceability, and audit readiness.
  • Assist during MoEFCC / CPCB / GPCB/NABL inspections and audits, providing technical clarifications and ensuring compliance closure
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, standards, and hazardous wastes in accordance with EHS, CPCB, and MoEFCC norms.
  • Participate in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in laboratory planning, resource management, consumables procurement, and inventory control.
  • Support research, method optimization, and troubleshooting related to trace metals, trace organics, hazardous waste, pesticide analysis and emerging contaminants.
  • Adhere strictly to laboratory safety, data integrity, confidentiality, and ethical practices.
  • Support continual laboratory development activities, including upgradation of testing facilities, expansion of scope, and adoption of new regulatory parameters.

Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry/Environmental Science.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills in the environment audit work.

Mandatory Requirement: Candidate has to pass the GPCB environment auditor exam of Chemist.

Joining: One Month.


Duration: Minimum 5 years’ experience
