Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Chemist with experience in the fragrance or aroma chemicals industry to support formulation, quality control, product testing, and development activities. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of fragrance raw materials, analytical techniques, and laboratory practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of fragrance compounds as per customer briefs and internal requirements
- Work closely with perfumers and evaluators to prepare samples and modify formulations
- Maintain accurate formulation records and sample library
- Conduct stability tests and performance evaluations on fragrances in various applications (e.g., detergents, body care, home care)
- Perform routine QC tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished fragrance oils.
- Ensure compliance with internal and industry quality standards
- Identify and troubleshoot deviations in fragrance performance or quality
- Prepare and maintain Certificates of Analysis (COA), stability reports, and testing documentation
- Manage lab equipment, ensure calibration, and maintain safe working conditions
- Handle chemical inventory, MSDS documentation, and stock replenishment
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals as per safety protocols
- Provide technical assistance to the sales and production teams regarding fragrance specifications and compatibility
- Support customer trials, including preparation of application samples
- Liaise with suppliers for technical data, raw materials, and updates on new ingredients.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in fragrance, flavour, aroma chemicals, cosmetics, or chemical manufacturing industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
- Experience in fragrance compounding, QC techniques, or R&D preferred
- Knowledge of fragrance raw materials, IFRA guidelines, and safety regulations
- Familiarity with GC, GC-MS, viscometers, density meters, and other testing instruments
- Strong understanding of formulation practices and laboratory testing methods
- Proficient in MS Office; experience with ERP/quality systems is an advantage.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production/lab environment.
