Job Summary
The Chemotherapy Infusion Registered Nurse provides specialized care to oncology patients receiving chemotherapy and infusion treatments. This role is responsible for patient assessment, safe administration of medications, monitoring for adverse reactions, and providing education and support to patients and families throughout their treatment journey.
Duties/Responsibilities

Assess patients before, during, and after chemotherapy/infusion treatments, including reviewing vital signs, lab results, and overall readiness.

Monitor patients closely for infections, infusion-related complications, and adverse drug reactions; respond promptly and appropriately.

Verify chemotherapy orders, safety protocols, and infusion parameters to ensure accuracy in drug preparation, labeling, timing, and administration.

Educate patients and families about potential side effects, symptom management, and treatment expectations with strong communication and teaching skills.

Access and maintain central lines, ports, and peripheral IVs; perform blood drawings and laboratory collections as needed.

Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal treatment outcomes.

Document all patient care activities accurately and in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

Adhere strictly to infection control procedures, chemotherapy handling guidelines, and OSHA safety protocols.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities

Strong clinical assessment, IV therapy, and infusion skills.

Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communication abilities.

Compassionate, patient-focused approach with the ability to support patients through complex treatments.
Education /Experience

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Arizona.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; oncology and infusion experience strongly preferred.

ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card (must be current or obtained within 6 months of hire).

Required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Physical Requirements

Outpatient infusion clinic.

Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of supplies/equipment.

Potential exposure to hazardous drugs and infectious materials; must comply with all protective and safety measures.
