Chief Accountant

Job Description:

The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of YAY Portal, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. The role involves managing day-to-day accounting activities, preparing accurate financial reports, and supporting management with financial insights for strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Maintain the general ledger and oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in compliance with IFRS/local regulations.
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow management.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, VAT, Zakat, and other statutory filings.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management for business decisions.
• Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency.
• Train and mentor accounting staff to build team capabilities.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
• Professional certification (CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local tax regulations.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
