Job Title: Chief Accountant

Job Summary

The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the full accounting function of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, compliance with accounting standards, and effective management of inventory and project-based costing. The role plays a key part in supporting strategic financial decisions in a fast-paced trading and project environment such as lighting and smart home solutions.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Review and ensure accuracy of general ledger, trial balance, and reconciliations.
• Consolidate financial reports and present analytical summaries to management.
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes.

2. Accounting Supervision

• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Review journal entries, adjustments, and accruals prepared by the accounting team.
• Ensure proper classification and recording of all financial transactions.

3. Inventory & Project Cost Control

• Oversee inventory accounting for lighting products, smart home devices, and accessories.
• Monitor stock valuation, movement, and reconciliation with warehouse records.
• Analyze project costing, margins, and profitability for installation or supply projects.
• Coordinate closely with procurement, warehouse, and project teams.

4. Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Assist Finance Manager in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis with recommendations.
• Support pricing strategy and cost analysis for tenders and projects.

5. Internal Controls & Compliance

• Establish and maintain strong internal control systems.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and ensure timely audit completion.
• Safeguard company assets through proper financial control procedures.

6. ERP & System Oversight

• Ensure accurate and efficient use of ERP systems (e.g., Odoo or similar).
• Supervise accounting data integrity across finance, inventory, and sales modules.
• Support system improvements and automation initiatives.

7. Team Leadership & Coordination

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff (accountants, AR/AP officers).
• Assign tasks, review performance, and ensure deadlines are met.
• Coordinate with operations, sales, warehouse, and management teams for financial alignment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred).
• 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–4 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong experience in trading, retail, or project-based industries (lighting, electrical, or smart home preferred).
• Solid knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Strong experience in inventory and project cost accounting.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (Odoo, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Business acumen in pricing, margins, and cost optimization.
• Effective communication in English (Arabic is an advantage).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: KD450.000 - KD650.000 per month
