Chief Engineer - Yacht

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chief Engineer to join our professional crew on our private motor yacht. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical and electrical systems on board, ensuring optimal safety, performance, and comfort for guests and crew.

You will play a vital role in maintaining the vessel’s engineering department to the highest standard, including during guest trips, yard periods, and crossings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Operations

· Engine Maintenance: Oversee the main engines, generators, and propulsion systems. Perform regular checks and repairs.

· Systems Management: Responsible for HVAC, water makers, sewage treatment, electrical systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems.

· Preventive Maintenance: Develop and follow a maintenance schedule to prevent failures and extend equipment lifespan.

Repairs & Troubleshooting

· On-the-spot fixes: Diagnose and repair issues that arise during operations—this includes both planned and emergency maintenance.

· Documentation: Keep detailed logs of repairs, faults, and changes made to the systems.

Regulatory Compliance

· Safety & Environmental Standards: Ensure all machinery and systems comply with maritime safety regulations and environmental standards.

· Inspections: Prepare the yacht for port inspections, flag state requirements, and class surveys.

Inventory & Budgeting

· Spare Parts & Tools: Maintain stock levels for critical spare parts and tools.

· Budget Control: Manage the engineering department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.

Communication

· With the Captain: Regular updates about the yacht’s technical status.

· With Shipyards/Suppliers: Coordinate during refits, repairs, or for sourcing parts.

During Guest Trips

· Operational Readiness: Ensure everything runs smoothly—especially the stabilizers, air conditioning, and generators.

· Discretion & Professionalism: Work quietly behind the scenes to avoid guest disruption.

Requirements

· Valid STCW and ENG1 medical certificate.

· Y1–Y4, SV Chief Engineer, or AEC 1 & 2.

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Chief Engineer role on yachts.

· Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.

· Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

· Proven ability to work under pressure and in dynamic, guest-facing environments.

Pay: AED15,000.00 - AED20,000.00 per month
