CEO Opportunity at Eye Clinic of Wisconsin

Position Summary
Reporting to the Shareholders, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) determines ways to promote the growth and longevity of the Clinic. They will review financial reports, participate in board meetings and develop ways to maximize employee productivity and overall efficiency. The CEO will set strategic initiatives, oversee growth, and develop solid program evaluation models to ensure programs are adhering to identified program measures, outcomes, and financial goals. This position provides hands on leadership in areas of operations, budgeting, financial management, program development/expansion, quality improvement, and supervision of the clinical team. As a member of the ECOW/ECLSI Executive Leadership Team, the CEO will help lead the organization internally as well as represent the clinic externally.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Planning and Development
  • Lead the development of the Clinic’s long- and short-term strategies
  • Assess and minimize risks to the company
  • Provide company-wide leadership by identifying and addressing clinic issues
  • Develop and uphold the Clinic’s culture and mission/vision
  • Implement strategic plans by working with stakeholders
  • Monitor the regulatory, social, and economic changes in ophthalmology and present recommendations to the Shareholders based on analysis of such
  • Present recommendations for a comprehensive integrated business plan to include each business entity in support of the mission, goals and objectives of the clinic
  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside entities related to the success of clinic goals
  • Coordinate meetings with MEC, Shareholders, Doctors and ODs as needed
  • Coordinate with external consultants on projects such as Doctor Equity Buy-in Plan, practice acquisitions and joint ventures
  • Review and analyze the financial and operational performance of all entities, including billing, collections, insurance processing, payroll, accounts payable, monthly accounting, daily cash management, internal controls, patient care data, and staff performance
  • Review and analyze the utilization of business resources to achieve optimal efficiency and effectiveness
  • Analyze process flows for the enhancement of quality, cost reduction, and patient flow
  • Develop proposals, evaluate leases, and participation agreements for managed care programs, proposals for acquisitions/mergers and other contracts for services/equipment
  • Monitor & conduct feasibility studies for projects selected by the Shareholders
  • Estimate staffing requirements and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions
  • Review system-wide programs to assess quality, identify problem areas, develop recommendations, implement changes, and assess results for improving efficiency and patient satisfaction
Personnel
  • Reinforce the importance to Shareholders to rely on their Management Team to effectively lead their teams, without employee interference
  • Assist Shareholders in maintaining cooperative and productive relationships among the professional medical staff
  • Hold Managers accountable to their role with respect to managing staff, meeting deadlines, achieving set goals, living the mission and outwardly having integrity
  • Administration of Related Entities
  • Develop and participate in the analysis and evaluation of strategic business plans, feasibility studies, market assessment, marketing plans, data gathering, and presentation of written reports on prospective new clinical programs and opportunities for enhanced professional and diagnostic revenue
  • Oversee and establish protocols and infrastructure for data management
  • Develop collaborative relationships with other service providers and positively represent the Clinic in the community and as a key contact for all clinic partners
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, HITECH and other government guidelines and regulations
  • Stay current on Medicaid, and Medicare updates, as well as federal and local legislation that may affect the Clinic and the population we serve
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, accounting, or a related area required; Master's degree in healthcare, business administration, finance or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant and progressive leadership experience
  • Must have a record of accomplishment as a self-starter, capable of taking initiative, working independently, delegating effectively, and achieving beneficial bottom-line results for the clinic
  • Must possess the following skills:

Work Conditions
Work is generally performed at the main clinic; 800 N. First Street, Wausau, WI. Hours of work will depend on the needs of the Clinic. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
