Delta Medical Transport, a private, for‑profit Emergency Medical Services agency serving Henrico County and surrounding regions, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Executive Officer will report directly to executive leadership and owner's and will be responsible for strategic direction, operational efficiency, business development, and the continued growth of the organization. This role requires a decisive, experienced EMS leader capable of driving excellence in patient care delivery, compliance, financial performance, and workforce development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Administration, Leadership, Finance, or a closely related field (required), Master's Preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of high-level EMS management experience in an operational or executive capacity (required), 5 years Preferred.
- Current National Registry Paramedic (NRP) Certification (required), and CPR.
- Demonstrated experience in contract acquisition, EMS operations oversight, and multi‑departmental leadership.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EMS regulations, including Virginia OEMS requirements.
- Candidates must include three professional references with their resume.
- Experience with successful billing practices in private-for-profit EMS agencies, and experience with successful revenue recovery and growth a must.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day‑to‑day EMS operations, ensuring effective deployment of resources, high performance, and full compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies, protocols, workflows, and quality assurance programs.
- Ensure readiness, safety, and efficiency of personnel, vehicles, equipment, and facilities.
- Analyze operational data and key performance indicators to drive decision‑making and performance optimization.
Strategic & Financial Management
- Support the organization’s strategic goals through long‑term planning, forecasting, and operational alignment with business objectives.
- Partner with the owner's and executive team to manage budgets, financial targets, and strategic initiatives that enhance profitability and organizational sustainability.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, cost reduction, and service expansion.
Business Development & Contract Acquisition
- Lead efforts to secure new transport contracts, including hospital partnerships, facility agreements, municipal contracts, and private-sector opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with healthcare facilities, government agencies, insurance payers, and community partners.
- Represent the organization in meetings, negotiations, and public engagements related to service expansion and partnership development.
Personnel Management & Leadership
- Provide high-level leadership to management staff, supervisors, clinical personnel, and administrative teams.
- Foster a positive organizational culture focused on professionalism, accountability, safety, and patient-centered service.
- Oversee recruitment, training, retention strategies, and performance management for operational staff.
- Ensure ongoing staff development, continuing education, and leadership pipeline growth.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain full compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversee quality assurance/quality improvement (QA/QI) programs to ensure excellence in clinical care and customer service.
- Direct internal audits, accreditation efforts, and risk management activities.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the CEO on organizational strategy, executive reporting, and company-wide initiatives.
- Serve as a key liaison between operations, administration, finance, clinical leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure transparency and operational alignment.
