Chief Information Officer (CIO) — Job Description
Role summary
Lead the organization’s technology strategy and operations to enable business goals, drive digital transformation, ensure secure and reliable IT services, and foster innovation.
Key responsibilities
- Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute the IT strategy aligned with business objectives; advise executive leadership and board on technology opportunities and risks.
- Digital Transformation: Lead initiatives to modernize systems, adopt cloud and SaaS solutions, automate processes, and drive data-driven decision making.
- IT Operations & Delivery: Oversee infrastructure, applications, service management (ITSM), helpdesk, and project delivery to ensure uptime, performance, and user satisfaction.
- Cybersecurity & Risk: Set security strategy, governance, and controls; manage risk assessments, incident response, compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX as applicable).
- Budgeting & Vendor Management: Own IT budget and cost optimization; negotiate and manage vendor contracts, cloud/service providers, and third-party relationships.
- Data & Analytics: Promote data governance, BI/analytics, and information management to enable accurate reporting and insights.
- Talent & Organization: Build and mentor IT teams, define org structure, recruit technical and management talent, and set performance goals.
- Architecture & Standards: Define enterprise architecture, technology standards, and integration patterns to ensure scalability and interoperability.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with business leaders to prioritize initiatives, translate requirements into solutions, and communicate technology roadmaps.
- Innovation & Compliance: Evaluate emerging technologies, run pilots/proof-of-concepts, and ensure regulatory and internal policy compliance.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience; 5+ years in an executive IT role preferred.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms, enterprise applications (ERP/CRM), cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.
- Strong financial acumen, vendor negotiation, and program management experience.
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred skills & attributes:
- Experience in digital transformation, data strategy, and Agile/DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry-specific systems.
- Track record of building high-performing teams and driving organizational change.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical executives.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: QAR350.25 - QAR789.60 per hour
