Chief Land Surveyor

Location: Sharjah
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Land Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will lead all surveying activities on site, ensuring full compliance with project specifications, design drawings, and industry standards. This role requires close coordination with site engineers, consultants, and other departments to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality in all survey-related work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all land surveying activities on the project.
- Review contract and approved shop drawings to ensure full understanding of design details.
- Liaise with the Technical Department for clarifications or additional information on drawings.
- Verify and maintain survey control points and ensure proper traverse closure.
- Maintain all survey equipment in good working condition with valid calibration certificates.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with consultants and client representatives.
- Follow document control procedures to ensure use of the latest approved construction documents.
- Conduct survey checks and submit for consultant approval in accordance with RFAs.
- Maintain accurate records of survey work, approvals, and as-built data.
- Respond promptly to NCRs and CAPARs, ensuring corrective actions are implemented efficiently.
- Ensure as-built information is accurately captured prior to covering works.
- Prepare monthly reports for the survey section when required.
- Support the construction team with technical input and corrective measures when needed.
EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce the company’s EHS Construction Management Plan (EHS-CMP) within the survey team.
- Ensure all personnel have completed safety induction and comply with site regulations.
- Enforce the Permit to Work (PTW) system in high-risk areas.
- Promote safety awareness among the team and subcontractors to ensure continual improvement in safety performance.
- Report all accidents, near-miss incidents, and unsafe acts promptly per company/client procedures.
- Verify regular inspection and maintenance of survey tools and equipment.
- Ensure all assigned personnel are competent, fit, and capable of performing their duties safely.
- Maintain proper and safe storage of materials, equipment, and tools.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in surveying, preferably within large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of surveying techniques, instruments, and standards.
- Proficiency with survey software and equipment (e.g., Total Station, GPS, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation and quality assurance requirements.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to company EHS procedures.

- Internal: Construction, Technical, and QA/QC Departments.
- External: Consultant surveyors, client representatives, and subcontractors.
