The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a Chief Maintenance Engineer to provide leadership and technical expertise for the City’s facilities maintenance team. This vital role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of all municipal building systems and protects the long-term value of City assets.

As Chief Maintenance Engineer, you will oversee the daily operation of complex building systems—including mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, chiller plants, and fire/life safety—across multiple Class A facilities such as City Hall, the Performing Arts Center, the Multi-Use Theater, and the Police Headquarters/Courthouse. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical knowledge, strategic leadership, and strong problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and develop a team of maintenance engineers and staff.
• Oversee daily facility operations, preventive maintenance programs, and capital improvement projects.
• Manage budgets, contracts, vendor relationships, and compliance with all building codes and safety standards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for emergencies, leading response and recovery efforts to keep operations running smoothly.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: Minimum 10+ years of progressively responsible maintenance/engineering experience in commercial or municipal facilities, with 3–5 years in a leadership role.
• Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and customer service abilities; proficiency with Building Management Systems (BMS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and fire alarm systems.
• Requirements: Valid driver’s license with good driving history and ability to respond to emergencies after hours.
• Preferred: Vocational/technical training or licenses/certifications in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.

Additional Information:

• Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Emergency operations support required, including holidays and special events.
• Candidates chosen will be required to successfully pass a drug test, criminal background check, and motor vehicle check.
