Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)
Greek Time Corp / CliqWave
Location: Remote preferred
Overview
Greek Time Corp is building CliqWave, a platform designed to help Greek life organizations, student groups, for-profit organizations, and non-profit organizations communicate better, stay organized, and create more accountability across their teams and communities. CliqWave brings together the tools organizations actually need in one place — including attendance, points, announcement acknowledgments, files, member info, chat, and events/calendars with sync + reminders.
We are seeking a hands-on, early-stage Chief Marketing Officer to help define and lead our marketing strategy. This is a leadership role for someone who can think strategically, execute tactically, help shape the brand, and build the marketing engine that supports long-term growth.
The right person understands how to build awareness and trust in a focused market, create messaging that resonates with chapter leaders, student leaders, organizational operators, and decision-makers, and help turn early traction into sustainable momentum. They should be excited by the opportunity to help shape a growing company at an important stage.
What You’ll Own
- Build and lead the overall marketing vision, strategy, and execution for CliqWave
- Define and refine CliqWave’s brand positioning across Greek life, student organizations, for-profit organizations, and non-profit organizations
- Create messaging that clearly communicates CliqWave’s value as an all-in-one accountability and communication platform
- Develop go-to-market strategies for chapter growth, campus expansion, organizational partnerships, and broader team adoption
- Help establish a repeatable growth engine for acquiring users, organizations, and multi-group adoption
- Oversee and improve digital presence across website, social media, app store listings, email, and outbound campaigns
- Drive content strategy across testimonials, case studies, social content, launch assets, and brand storytelling
- Help turn early customer wins into compelling marketing proof points
- Partner closely with the founder, CTO, and product team to align product development with market feedback and growth opportunities
- Create systems for tracking marketing performance, user acquisition, activation, retention, and conversion
- Build and refine lifecycle marketing, CRM strategy, and customer communication flows
- Identify and test efficient growth opportunities across organic, partnership, ambassador, referral, outbound, and paid channels
- Help support the future buildout of the marketing function as the company grows
Key Responsibilities
- Own brand, growth, product marketing, demand generation, and social media strategy
- Build marketing strategy for both bottom-up adoption and top-down credibility
- Develop focused strategies for core markets such as Greek life organizations and student groups, while also helping position CliqWave for use by for-profit and non-profit organizations
- Lead brand development so CliqWave stands out as a category-defining platform rather than just another communication tool
- Build and manage social media marketing that drives awareness, trust, engagement, and conversion
- Improve website conversion and marketing funnel performance
- Shape app store optimization and positioning against competitors in the space
- Develop creative direction for content, campaigns, testimonials, and social assets
- Build and execute go-to-market plans for product launches, feature rollouts, partnerships, and expansion efforts
- Create marketing experiments that help determine what messaging, audiences, and channels convert best
- Work cross-functionally to make sure customer stories, feature launches, and product wins are communicated effectively
- Bring structure and accountability to marketing KPIs while staying practical and resource-conscious
- Help support outbound growth efforts, including messaging strategy, cold outreach support, and feedback loops from prospect conversations
Qualifications
- Experience leading marketing strategy with a strong bias toward execution
- Strong understanding of marketing in early-stage or growth-stage environments
- Proven ability to build and execute go-to-market strategy, including audience definition, positioning, messaging, channel selection, launch planning, and market feedback loops
- Strong experience with market segmentation, targeting, and positioning, with the ability to identify priority customer groups and tailor messaging and campaigns accordingly
- Deep understanding of brand strategy and how to build a memorable, trusted brand in a niche or emerging category
- Strong experience with social media marketing, including content strategy, audience growth, engagement, storytelling, and conversion-focused campaigns
- Experience translating product value into clear, compelling messaging for multiple audiences while maintaining a strong foothold in core markets
- Strong understanding of CRM-driven marketing, including lifecycle stages, contact management, campaign tracking, reporting, pipeline visibility, and marketing-to-sales handoff
- Experience working with CRM systems and using data to improve targeting, follow-up, attribution, and decision-making
- Comfort with outbound growth tactics, including cold outreach, follow-up sequences, prospecting, and message testing
- Strong command of growth marketing fundamentals across acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, and conversion
- Highly analytical and data-driven, with the ability to measure performance, interpret results, identify insights, and improve strategy based on real numbers
- Ability to think strategically while also executing tactically
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Comfortable operating with a high level of ownership and adaptability
- Able to work collaboratively with technical founders and help translate product strengths into market traction
- Comfortable moving quickly, testing often, and adjusting strategy based on results
- Willingness to collaborate outside standard business hours when needed to support team momentum and key initiatives
Ideal Background
We would be especially excited about candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Early-stage company or growth-stage company experience
- Consumer, community, marketplace, SaaS, or social-product marketing
- Marketing to college students, campus organizations, nonprofit teams, membership-based organizations, or community-driven groups
- Experience with Greek life, student organizations, higher education ecosystems, nonprofit communities, or small-team operational software
- Product-led growth, community-led growth, ambassador-style growth, or founder-led growth support
- Brand building in a competitive or emerging category
- App growth, app store optimization, and lifecycle or retention strategy
- Building trust and adoption in communities where word-of-mouth matters
- Working closely with founders to help shape both strategy and execution
This Role Is a Great Fit If You…
- Want to help build something meaningful at an early stage
- Like being both strategic and hands-on
- Know how to create clarity in a fast-moving environment
- Can turn limited resources into real momentum
- Enjoy building brand, messaging, and growth systems
- Understand that early-stage success requires flexibility, ownership, and follow-through
- Are excited by long-term upside and meaningful ownership
Why This Role Matters
CliqWave is not trying to be another generic communication app. We are building a platform meant to solve real problems around communication, accountability, organization, and follow-through inside Greek life organizations, student groups, for-profit teams, and non-profit organizations. Marketing will play a major role in defining how the market understands us, why people trust us, and how fast we grow.
This is an opportunity to help shape the voice, strategy, and future of a growing company at an important stage.
