Chief Metrologist

OGSI designs and manufactures high-quality products and metering systems for the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, and Power Generation industries with its branches in the UK, Cyprus, and the UAE.

Responsibilities:

• Calibrate and test measurement instruments and equipment to ensure their accuracy. This involves comparing devices to reference standards that are traceable to international units, such as those of the International System of Units (SI).

• Research and develop new, more precise measurement methods and standards to improve accuracy as technology evolves. This includes working with fundamental physical constants to define units of measure.

• Use statistical analysis to interpret measurement data and determine the uncertainty associated with a measurement. Understanding measurement uncertainty is crucial for assessing the validity of data.

• Ensure that products and processes meet design specifications and that manufacturing equipment operates within acceptable tolerances.

• Ensure international quality control standards are being met.

• Establish and enforce regulations for measurements used in commercial transactions, such as the scales at a grocery store or gas pumps, to protect consumers.

• Maintain the public safety, the environment, and commercial transactions.

• Lead metrologist for all in-house accreditation auditing through ISO9001, NIST, and ANAB/NAVLAB accreditations.

• Utilize schematics, wiring diagrams, flow charts, and test equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot printed circuit boards to the component level.

• Analyze technical data, commercial manuals, and schematics to diagnose malfunctioning TMDE and identify suitable corrective action.

• Inspect and measure brake calipers for PPAP's and general product testing

Knowledge & Experience needed:

• Relevant fields include Metrology, Engineering (especially mechanical), Physics, or other physical sciences.

• Minimum 5 years of Metrologist experience in the Oil, Gas, Petrochemicals & Power Generation industry, preferrable in supervisory roles.

Preferably:

• 3D metrology certified.

• ISO/IEC 17025 or ISO 9001 or ISO 10012, or ISO/IEC 17020 is an advantage.

• CMS Certified - Coordinate Metrology Society Certification program
