Job Summary
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the hospital. The COO will drive operational excellence, efficiency, and quality of care across all departments, with a strong emphasis on implementing best practices from U.S. acute care healthcare systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Oversee all hospital operations including clinical support services, administration, and ancillary departments
- Ensure efficient delivery of patient care services in line with international standards
- Optimize patient flow, capacity management, and throughput across the hospital
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and implement strategic initiatives
- Translate organizational goals into actionable operational plans
- Lead expansion projects, service line development, and performance improvement initiatives
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations and international accreditation standards (e.g., JCI)
- Implement and monitor quality assurance, patient safety, and risk management programs
- Drive continuous improvement using evidence-based practices and U.S. healthcare benchmarks
Financial & Business Management
- Oversee operational budgets, cost control, and revenue cycle optimization
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), productivity metrics, and financial outcomes
- Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reduction
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor department heads and operational leaders
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and results
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and leadership development initiatives
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Support physician engagement and alignment with hospital goals
- Represent the hospital in operational and strategic forums
Qualifications & Requirements
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration (MBA), or related field
- Minimum 12–15 years of healthcare experience, with at least 5–7 years in a senior leadership role
- Mandatory experience in U.S. acute care hospital settings (highly preferred)
- Proven track record in hospital operations, performance improvement, and transformation
- Experience with internationally accredited hospitals (e.g., JCI)
