Child Care Assistant

Duties

  • Assist with supervising children during playtime, meals, naps, and educational activities in a preschool or daycare setting
  • Support teachers and caregivers in implementing age-appropriate curriculum focused on childhood development and early learning milestones
  • Engage children with interactive activities that promote social skills, creativity, and cognitive growth
  • Ensure the safety of all children by monitoring their behavior and environment closely; respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies using first aid when necessary
  • Help maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that encourages learning and exploration
  • Collaborate with team members to develop individualized care plans for children with special needs or disabilities
  • Support toddlers and infants with feeding, diapering, and comforting routines while adhering to health and safety standards
  • Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement techniques and consistent routines to foster a respectful atmosphere

Experience

  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare centers, preschools, babysitting, nannying, or similar environments is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
  • Familiarity with special education techniques and working with individuals with disabilities is a plus
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is advantageous; willingness to obtain these certifications if not already held
  • Hands-on experience caring for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers through daycare or babysitting roles demonstrates your ability to handle diverse age groups effectively
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with families, team members, and children to ensure a supportive environment
  • Spanish is a plus
