Child Care Licensing Case Worker I

Job Summary:
Responsible for assessing, licensing and monitoring child care providers and child care centers for compliance with Cherokee Nation (CN) child care program standards within assigned counties
Job Duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts assessment, evaluation and certification activities with providers that ultimately lead to licensure/certification.

Conducts routine monitoring on the operational activities of child care centers and providers within assigned area to ensure compliance with CN standards and licensing requirements.

Educates, trains, and assists individual providers and child care centers in their roles to comply with CN standards, policies and procedures in order to secure licensure/certification.

Promotes and recruits individuas for entry into child care provider system to expand available services for children/youth in need of care.

Maintains case files on providers and centers on compliance with standards, educational sessions, incident reports, monitoring visits and complaints.

Conducts educational/instructional sessions with individual providers and child care center staff to maintain optimal levels of awareness in child care processes and/or locates other training resources to address these issues.

Submits periosic reports on monitering activities, site visits, recruitment/enrollment and eduscational sessions of program participants

Actively participates in child protection/child care teams and attends other pertinent training.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Associate's degree from 2-year college or technical school; or two years (60 credit hours) coursework from 4-year college or university in Social Work, education, early childhood or related field, or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

An additional one year experience in the child care field, social work, education or related work with children/youth and families is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Employee is required to work in the field at various locations in assigned area to conduct monitoring visits, provide and attend child care training and events for a majority of the time.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
