Child Care Specialist – In-Home

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Child Care Specialist – In-Home to provide high-quality, nurturing care directly within families' homes across Fairfield County. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support children's growth and development through personalized care, educational activities, and positive guidance. As a Child Care Specialist at Homewatch CareGivers of Norwalk, you will foster a safe, engaging environment that promotes early childhood education, social-emotional skills, and overall well-being. Your energetic approach and commitment to nurturing will help children thrive during their formative years while supporting families in their caregiving needs.

Duties

  • Deliver attentive, individualized care for children of various ages, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children with special needs
  • Implement age-appropriate activities that promote childhood development, learning, and social skills
  • Ensure safety by maintaining a clean, hazard-free environment and adhering to all safety protocols such as first aid procedures
  • Support early childhood education principles through play-based learning and structured routines
  • Manage behavior with positive discipline strategies and effective behavior management techniques
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns
  • Assist with daily routines including feeding, diapering, nap times, and hygiene practices in line with family preferences

Experience

  • Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, nannying, or babysitting roles preferred
  • Knowledge of childhood development stages and best practices in early childhood education
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special education needs is a plus
  • Classroom experience or caregiving background that demonstrates strong management skills
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable; ongoing training in child safety is encouraged
  • Familiarity with toddler care routines and infant care essentials
  • Ability to effectively manage behavior and implement caregiving strategies in diverse settings
