With three (3) conveniently located health centers, three (3) behavioral health sites and a friendly welcoming staff, PHC aspires to serve all the health care and wellness needs of the entire family.

About the Role:

The Child Psychiatrist will provide specialized mental health care to children and adolescents, addressing a wide range of psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders. This role involves conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each child. The psychiatrist will collaborate closely with families, schools, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to treatment and support. Additionally, the role includes supervising clinical staff and leading therapeutic interventions such as group and family therapy sessions. Ultimately, the Child Psychiatrist aims to improve the mental well-being and developmental outcomes of young patients through evidence-based practices and compassionate care.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with completion of a residency in psychiatry.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice psychiatry in the United States.
  • Experience in mental health counseling and clinical supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of child development and behavioral health principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and family systems therapy.
  • Familiarity with group therapy facilitation and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
  • Additional training or certification in child psychology or developmental disorders.
  • Experience working in diverse clinical settings including outpatient and inpatient care.
  • Research experience or involvement in clinical trials related to child psychiatry.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations of children and adolescents.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating medication management and psychotherapy.
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to mental health counselors and other clinical staff.
  • Facilitate group therapy and family therapy sessions to support patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including pediatricians, psychologists, social workers, and educators to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Skills:

The required skills such as mental health counseling, psychology, and behavioral health are essential for accurately assessing and treating psychiatric conditions in children. Clinical supervision skills enable the psychiatrist to mentor and guide junior clinicians, ensuring high-quality care delivery. Knowledge of child development informs the creation of age-appropriate treatment plans and therapeutic interventions. Proficiency in conducting group and family therapy sessions facilitates comprehensive support for patients and their families, addressing systemic factors affecting mental health. These skills combined allow the Child Psychiatrist to deliver holistic, evidence-based care that promotes positive mental health outcomes in young patients.
