Child Watch Lead - Chandler / Gilbert Family YMCA

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CHILD WATCH LEAD:

  • Oversees and supervises Amazing Kids Club staff and programs.
  • Develops positive relationships with members, participants and staff.
  • Organizes and facilitates age-appropriate activities.
  • Assists supervisor with reporting numbers for food programs weekly.
  • Supervises and interacts with children at play safely.
  • Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
  • Monitors care and maintenance of all program facilities and equipment with particular concern for the health and safety of participants and ensures repairs are made as needed. Reports issues to supervisor immediately.
  • Attend staff meetings and training courses as required.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Conveys basic knowledge of all program areas to members and participants.
  • Incorporates the mission, philosophy and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A CHILD WATCH LEAD:

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Current state approved first-aid certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide childcare.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with children.
  • Knowledge and experience in child watch or babysitting including demonstrated ability to provide age appropriate activities to children, ages 5 years to 11 years.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA programs.
  • Knowledge of staff / volunteer supervision and program management preferred.
