Childcare Float Teacher

Reports To: Director / Lead Teacher

Position Summary:
The Float Staff supports the overall operation of the childcare center by assisting in classrooms and filling in for teachers and staff as needed. This role provides coverage across all age groups (infants, toddlers, preschool, and pre-K), ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while maintaining compliance with state licensing regulations and program policies.

Pay Rate: $16.50-$18.00

Essential Functions:

• Provide classroom coverage and support in multiple age groups, adapting to various teaching styles and daily routines.
• Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote learning, development, and positive social interactions.
• Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, following health and safety guidelines.
• Assist with daily routines, including meals, toileting, diapering, rest time, and transitions.
• Support lead teachers in implementing curriculum, classroom management, and individualized learning.
• Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Communicate effectively with the teaching team and leadership about classroom needs and observations.
• Follow all licensing, program, and organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred).
• Prior experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting (preferred).
  • At least 240 hours as an assistant teacher in a childcare center, family childcare, or another approved early childhood setting.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work with different age groups and in various classroom settings.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet state licensing requirements, including background check, health clearance, and training certifications.
  • Training to include CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, SIDS, Mandated Reporter

Skills & Physical Requirements:

• Experience working with diverse populations and developing authentic relationships with families and children.

• Ability to engage in physical activities with children including bending, lifting, sitting at their level, and staying active throughout the day.

• Comfort working in an environment that involves regular exposure to cleaning products, bodily fluids, and common viruses.
