Description:
Summary: Provide care and supervision to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and/or school-age children. Maintain classroom, develop and implement age appropriate curriculum for children. Establish and maintain supportive relationships with children and parents.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Responsibilities:

Adhere to all Palmer goals, strategies, and values.

Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with Palmer Polices and state and federal laws.

Role model appropriate behavior, professional boundaries, respectful communication, and personal appearance in accordance with Employee Dress Code.

Provide constant supervision of children in activities that encourages participation and ensures safety of the children.

Identify when social, academic, adjustment or behavioral related issues arise and take appropriate action.

Use appropriate positive interaction when discipline problems arise, avoiding negative techniques such as time-out.

Coordinate with Children’s Counselor to meet treatment needs of children and to present pertinent information during Mommy and Me and other classes.

Understand and implement DHS regulations, as well as TWCC policies and procedures.

Plan and implement lesson plans in assigned classroom. Develop and provide a well-balanced schedule, alternating active and quite activities, small group, large group and individualized attention.

Develop plan through research for appropriate child-indicated curriculum and present to Childcare Supervisor at least one-week prior to implementation.

Maintain a classroom environment that is age and developmentally appropriate, taking into consideration any special needs of individual children.

Plan and implement parent communication. Communicate to parents through bulletin board on monthly lesson plans, menus, daily schedule and other relevant information.

Maintain a neat, clean, safe and orderly classroom.

Teacher’s assigned classroom may vary and additional responsibilities maybe required according to the age of the classroom.

Participate in ongoing in-service education programs and staff development programs.

Maintain knowledge of agency policies, procedures and training.

Maintain credentials and training requirements for DHS licensing.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Director.

Meet qualifications for Master Teacher under DHS Three Star Center requirements

Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education

Current Oklahoma Professional Development Ladder that meets Master Teacher level requirement

ELG (Early Learning Guidelines) Training
-
Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification
-
Current Oklahoma Department of Health Food Handler’s Permit
-
Excellent Computer skills include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
-
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
-
Strong interpersonal skills
-
If required to operate company vehicle, current Oklahoma Driver’s License and acceptable driving record according to Motor Vehicles Records

Experience working with children in a classroom situation, preferred
-
Knowledgeable of substance abuse, addiction and DHS regulations, preferred
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 30 pounds, sit for up to 8 hours/day, view computer screen for up to 8 hours/day.

Job requires twisting, lifting, standing, sitting, walking, stretching, kneeling, bending, and squatting.
