SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Under general supervision, is responsible for the care and supervision of children (newborn to 10 years). Responsible for development and implementation of age-appropriate activities. Will also be required to relay pertinent information to parents and staff as needed.
DUTIES:
1. Supervises and accounts of children of varying ages in structured and unstructured activities.
2. Will be responsible for the development of age-appropriate activities.
3. Demonstrate role modeling and appropriate assertiveness skills, which facilitate in reinforcing the structure of the program.
4. Administers verbal reprimands and other sanctions to clients and children following approval of the Residential or Director of Outpatient Services.
5. Maintain adequate attendance to fulfill all job responsibilities without causing hardship to the supervisor or company.
6. Supports and adheres to the rules and regulations of the Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED certificate
2. Prior experience working with children preferred
3. Must have a minimum of 12 continuing education units.
4. Must maintain valid CPR and First Aid including infant certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and skills of:
● Basic dynamics of child development and early childhood education
● Basic psychological, behavioral, sociological and cultural factors related to dependent children
● Principles of group dynamics control and discipline
● Methods and techniques of directing children's group activities, and individual and group counseling
● Arts and crafts appropriate for varied age groups
● Illnesses common to infants and children
● Telephone, office, and online etiquette
Ability to:
● Perform routine tasks in the care of children in all age groups
● Organize and provide direction for a group of children engaged in recreational and social activities
● Assess situations to prevent or solve problems and use sound judgment in taking appropriate action
● Provide emotional support and understanding to children experiencing trauma
● Assess and respond effectively to: emotional changes in children, emergency situations, and critical incidents
● Establish and maintain a rapport with the children
● Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
● Establish and maintain effective relationships
● Prepare reports and maintain records
● Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
● Work independently
● Maintain client confidentiality
● Maintain appropriate and timely communication with family, significant others, and referral sources conveying a positive professional image
● Maintain a professional appearance.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
● Must be insurable at standard automobile rates and maintain the ability to be insured throughout the course of employment
● Certified in CPR and First Aid
● Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
● Department of Justice fingerprint clearance
● Negative tuberculosis test
● Pass drug screening test
LICENSES:
● Must possess and maintain a valid California Identification Card during the course of employment

● Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in a safe, accurate, neat, and timely fashion
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
