The Children's Services Coordinator calls for a strong individual to coordinate and develop children’s services engaging with Tulsa County newborns through school-age children and the adults and agencies that support them. Strong organizational skills are required to manage systemwide children’s services from the Youth Services Department. For children’s services staff, this position: participates in stage one hiring processes; provides professional development; offers training resources and materials as well as one-to-one coaching. This position participates in producing funding requests and administers funds assigned for children’s services; serves as Tulsa City-County Library’s spokesperson in the community regarding children’s issues, programs and events; and provides development and leadership opportunities for the system’s children’s associates and librarians.
Some key responsibilities include:
- Coordinates system-wide children’s programming and special events, including budgeting, grant and trust proposals management, event and program timelines, and program planning;
- Leads Children’s Services team through meetings, communication, coaching, onboarding, mentoring activities;
- Participates in the hiring process of Children’s Associates and Youth Librarians, including evaluating candidates for interviews, participating in interviews, and advising managers in final selection;
- Advises staff related to children programming and services, including professional development, guidance, coaching, and implementation of new programming and service models;
- Evaluates the effectiveness of children’s services working with children’s services staff, branch, and departmental managers in the development of outcomes-based planning of programs and services;
- May be asked to serve on local, state and national committees, task forces, and professional organizations on behalf of TCCL;
- Develops and maintains content on the library’s Kids website, measuring content for impact and effectiveness;
- Serves on selection committees for TCCL youth literature awards;
Education & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Library Science required;
- Minimum of three years library experience, public library experience preferred;
- Minimum two years’ experience project/program planning, implementation and evaluation specifically serving children.
Location: Central Library, Youth Services Department
Salary: Grade 106, starting at $4192.00
Status: Full Time Exempt - 40 hr./week - Benefits include insurance, paid time off, pension and 457b savings

Work occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperature and air conditions. The job may involve dealing with moderately unpleasant situations, such as occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of video display terminals.
