Citrix Servers L3 Administrator / Engineer
Role Overview
The Citrix L3 Administrator is responsible for advanced management, troubleshooting, and optimization of Citrix environments. This includes XenApp/XenDesktop, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix ADC (NetScaler), and related infrastructure. The role requires deep expertise in Citrix technologies, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to resolve complex issues independently while supporting enterprise‑scale deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop and Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops environments.
- Provide L3 support for escalated incidents, ensuring timely resolution of complex Citrix issues.
- Administer and optimize Citrix ADC (NetScaler) for load balancing, VPN, and application delivery.
- Perform patching, upgrades, and configuration management across Citrix servers and components.
- Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning for Citrix infrastructure.
- Implement security hardening and compliance standards for Citrix environments.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or scripting tools.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and application teams to ensure seamless delivery of Citrix services.
- Lead root cause analysis for critical incidents and document resolutions.
- Maintain knowledge base and documentation for configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7–12 years of experience in Citrix administration with strong L3 expertise.
- Hands‑on experience with Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, Citrix ADC (NetScaler).
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration and Active Directory integration.
- Expertise in Citrix StoreFront, Citrix Director, Citrix Studio, and Profile Management.
- Experience with Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) / Machine Creation Services (MCS).
- Familiarity with hypervisors (VMware, Hyper‑V) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Ability to lead critical incident resolution and mentor junior administrators.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: CCA‑V, CCP‑V, CCE‑V (Citrix Certified Expert – Virtualization).
- Experience with Citrix Cloud and hybrid deployments.
- Exposure to monitoring tools (Citrix Director, ControlUp, Splunk, etc.).
- Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management.
