Job Summary/objective:

The City Deputy Marshal Chief for the City of Tucker, Georgia is a sworn position. This position is responsible for leading all department functions within the city’s jurisdiction during the Chief’s absence. This role is critical to preserving the safety, security, and dignity of Tucker’s municipal court, city buildings, officials, and residents. The Deputy ensures effective enforcement of Georgia state law, city ordinances, and service of legal processes, while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and community engagement.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Develops and implements plans to ensure safety in the City of Tucker, Georgia.

· Maintains personnel accountability records and performs other administrative functions..

· Evaluates the performance of personnel and conducts performance evaluations for City Marshal staff that are timely and constructive.

Essential Function and Duties/Responsibilities:

· Direct and oversee operations of the Tucker City Marshal’s Office, subject to the direction of the Chief Marshal

· Supervise, mentor, and evaluate sworn and civilian personnel within the Marshal’s Office; ensure adequate training, certification, and development.

· Assist the Chief City Marshal with developing and enforcing internal policies, operational procedures, and strategic plans aligned with Tucker’s municipal laws and public safety goals

· Protect all persons present during, before, and after any Court Session, including but not limited to: parties appearing before the Court, witnesses, members of the general public, city staff, the judges, and other officers of the Court

· Facilitate the appearance of incarcerated persons before the Court, either in person or via remote technology, including but not limited to appearing at the Dekalb County jail to facilitate hearings or to physically transport those in custody

· Assisting with the detention of persons for whom a judicial warrant for their arrest has been issued and verified

· Fingerprinting individuals facing charges within the jurisdiction of the Court as required by law and fingerprinting of applicants for City licenses

· Performing service of process as directed by the Court

· Enforcing compliance with any lawful order of a Judge of the Municipal Court and assisting the Director of Court Operations and the Prosecuting Officer of the Court in any lawful duties related to Court operations, including but not limited to the retrieval of bond funds from jail

· Protecting all persons present on City property, including but not limited to: members of the general public and city staff

· Assisting personnel of other departments of the City with the lawful serving of notice of violations, delivering citations, the posting notices, and lawful inspections, as requested

· Assisting personnel of other departments of the City with sensitive tasks such as making cash bank deposits

· Collaborate closely with the DeKalb County Police Department, Dekalb County Sherriff’s Office, emergency services, and other regional partners

· Maintain department compliance with Georgia P.O.S.T. standards and municipal regulations.

· Assist the Chief City Marshal with developing and managing the Marshal’s Office annual budget, equipment needs, and resource planning.

· Works all shifts as assigned.

· Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

· Deep knowledge of Georgia criminal law, municipal codes, and civil process procedures.

· Demonstrated leadership ability with skills in team management, training, and community policing.

· Capable of making high-level decisions during critical incidents and emergencies.

required Education, Credentials, Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field and 5 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including at least 2 years at a supervisory level, or; minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including at least 5 years at a supervisory level.

· Complete GCIC Security and Integrity Training or must obtain within first 30 days of employment.

· Georgia Driver’s License within 30 days of hire.

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

· Must possess the following certifications from the Red Cross or other equivalent agency or obtain within first six months of employment: CPR, AED, and First Aid and Narcan Training.

· Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible law enforcement.

· Certification: Must possess and maintain Georgia P.O.S.T. Peace Officer Certification and remain in good standing each year.

· Must pass an extensive background check and drug screening.

Pay: From $83,009.00 per year
