About the Role

The City of Winder is seeking a City Photographer & Digital Content Specialist to elevate the City’s visual storytelling and public presence. This photography‑focused role is responsible for capturing high-quality still images of city events, staff, infrastructure, and daily operations. The ideal candidate is a skilled photographer and digital content creator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can produce consistent, engaging visuals across multiple platforms.

This position also supports graphic design, social media content, and basic video production needs for City departments, ensuring clear, cohesive, and on-brand communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture high-quality still photography of City events, staff, facilities, and daily operations (primary function)
• Edit and deliver photography for social media, website, and internal use
• Create clean, on-brand graphics for digital platforms
• Support social media content creation through visual assets
• Produce and edit short-form video content
• Attend City events—including evenings, weekends, and holidays—to capture content
• Maintain and organize the City’s digital asset library (PhotoShelter or similar)
• Update website content as assigned (images, basic page edits, uploads)
• Maintain photography, video, and audio equipment
• Assist with City social media operations

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong photography skills with demonstrated experience capturing events, people, and real environments
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, Photoshop) and Canva
• Working knowledge of graphic design principles, including layout, typography, and brand consistency
• Ability to follow direction and execute projects accurately and efficiently
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
• Familiarity with social media platforms, trends, and content formats

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Georgia driver’s license required
• FAA Part 107 drone certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

Minimum Qualifications

• Portfolio required, including:
• Event photography
• Work featuring people
• Examples of graphic design or social media visuals
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in photography and digital media
• Experience with basic video editing or short-form video production preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, or related field preferred
• Ability to pass a background screening consistent with City policies
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
