JOB TITLE: Civic Center Custodial Maintenance Tech

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt – Part Time

DEPARTMENT: Civic Center

SUPERVISOR: Civic Center Technical Director

SALARY: $18-$24 Per Hour

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION


This position will perform routine custodial activities and minor maintenance for the Cheyenne Civic Center, under minimal supervision. This position will require 20 hours a week minimum.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Empty and clean trash receptacles; sweep and mop floors to include auditorium floor; strip, seal, wax, and buff tile floors; vacuum traffic areas; spot clean carpets; dust and clean; disinfect and clean restrooms and restroom fixtures; disinfect and clean kitchenette area; clean windows, inside and outside; wipe down walls.
  • Perform minor building maintenance, including replacing light bulbs.
  • Assist in security checks of buildings and facilities. Secure building and facilities. Make observations and report maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Perform minor repairs in the building and report larger concerns to supervisor.
  • Assist with equipment safety checks to include fire extinguisher checks.
  • Assist with inventory and refill safety equipment (rubber gloves, cleaning supplies, etc.).
  • Maintain confidentiality.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with special projects as necessary or assigned.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and workshops as required.
  • Provide support backstage with shows
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Knowledge of and adherence to division policies and procedures.
  • Ability to quickly respond to a sight, sound, or light when it appears.
  • Ability to recognize a potential problem or hazard.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and other city departments.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, supervisors, and other city departments effectively and courteously.

  • Ability to work unusual hours, split shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Ability to arrive on time to work assignments and maintain a history of satisfactory attendance

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Required:

High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

Some custodial maintenance experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 25 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.

Working Environment:

Work closely with others in an office environment; exposure to waste, possible infectious materials, chemicals, noise, dust, fumes, smoke, high voltage, work at heights on scaffolding and ladders and inclement weather.
