Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Designer with strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D to support the design and development of infrastructure and site projects within our metal recycling facilities. The Civil Designer will work closely with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to prepare design drawings, grading plans, and site layouts that meet operational, safety, and environmental requirements. This role requires a balance of technical drafting expertise, civil engineering knowledge, and the ability to support multidisciplinary project execution in an industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and prepare detailed civil design drawings, 3D models, and site layouts using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Support site development projects including grading, drainage, utilities, foundations, and access roads for recycling facilities.
- Generate plan & profile drawings, cross-sections, and details to support engineering deliverables.
- Assist in the preparation of construction documents, permitting packages, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, and project managers to ensure accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs and provide support for cost estimating.
- Maintain and organize digital drawing files in accordance with company standards.
- Apply knowledge of civil codes, industry standards, and best practices in designs.
- Collaborate with other disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical) to support integrated project delivery.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Civil Design, Drafting, or related field (Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering a plus).
- 5+ years of experience in civil design or drafting (industrial or heavy construction preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (grading, corridors, pipe networks, alignments, surfaces).
- Familiarity with construction documents, site design standards, and permitting processes.
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, and utility design.
- Experience in industrial or metal recycling environments is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, survey data, and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with stormwater management design and erosion control plans.
- Knowledge of state and local permitting requirements for industrial sites.
- Exposure to structural foundations and equipment layout design.
- Proficiency in other design software such as Bluebeam, Navisworks, or Civil project management tools.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
