Job title: Project Designer – Land Planning & Site Development

Location: Richmond, VA (Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Designer to support land planning, site development, and civil engineering projects. This on-site role is ideal for an early-career professional (0–5 years of experience) eager to build technical expertise within a collaborative design environment. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and planners to develop design documents and perform technical analyses for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in the preparation of site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, and roadway alignments.

- Support feasibility studies and conceptual design layouts.

- Perform basic engineering calculations for stormwater management, grading, and site utilities.

- Prepare and maintain drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

- Coordinate with team members to meet project standards and schedules.

- Assist with permit applications and responses to agency review comments.

- Participate in project meetings and manage documentation.

- Conduct site visits and field investigations as required.

Expertise In

- Land planning and site development fundamentals.

- Site grading, drainage, and stormwater concepts.

- Utility and roadway layout design.

- AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting and workflows.

- Permitting and regulatory support processes.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Land Planning, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.

- 0–5 years of experience in land development or site engineering.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (required).

- Familiarity with site development principles (grading, drainage, utilities).

- Basic understanding of local zoning and land use regulations (preferred).

- Strong organizational and communication skills.

- A desire to grow under the mentorship of senior engineers.

Pay: $75,808.13 - $140,000.00 per year
