Burns & McDonnell India’s (BMI) Water division in Mumbai, India is seeking to hire Designers for the Mumbai Office. The water division focuses on Water (Municipal and Industrial) Projects and Chemical facilities which offer a wide range of design & project execution experience. Our talented team provides engineering & design services to support piping discipline for Water (Municipal and Industrial) Projects. To grow our team and to support upcoming projects, we are hiring experienced personnel in our piping department.

The role involves supporting senior engineers in various aspects of civil/structural engineering projects. Key responsibilities include assisting in the preparation and review of engineering deliverables, conducting basic calculations and design checks for Hydraulic calculation, and coordinating with other disciplines to ensure project success. This role requires a strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles, proficiency in relevant software, and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• In-depth experience detailing underground utilities such as stormwater, sewer drainage, and water infrastructure.
• Utilize Civil 3D to design utility plans and profiles, including creating and modifying pipe networks, editing and changing parts and styles, sizing and spacing catch basins and manholes with minimum cover, hydrant spacing, and creating waterlines in profile with deflection and exaggeration, all as per jurisdictional requirements.
• Follow BIM and CAD standards.
• Create, edit, and label alignments, Civil 3D parcels, and corridors.
• Create, use, and edit Civil 3D labels, Create feature lines and surfaces.
• Manage, data reference, label and interact with a Civil 3D surface.
• Perform roadway design, including creating corridors, subassemblies, road FG, contour grading, and surface cleanup/manipulation through Tin/points.
• Coordinate with sub-consultants and design engineers.
• Prepare and manage engineering plans and project documents.
• Evaluate engineering alternatives and resolve technical issues.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner.
• Research and follow jurisdictional requirements unique to each project.
• Review and draft rough sketches, drawings, etc., as provided by the project engineer and/or BIM manager.
• Develop site layout plans for U.S.-based land development projects, ensuring compliance with client specifications and local standards.

Qualifications

• ITI/Diploma in civil engineering from a recognized institution
• 3-8 years of working experience in Civil Designing
• Sound knowledge of CIVIL-3D software
• Preferred Understanding of Microsoft Office Tools – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, Outlook, OneNote
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build customer rapport.
• Experience in using written and spoken English within a business environment.
