Civil Engineer

Job Summary

The civil engineer will be responsible for power cables project civil activities on site and for coordination with the site manager, commissioning team, third parties and HSE manager in line with the quality assurance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for all civil works for the project, including trenching, ducting, joint bay construction, and reinstatement of ground surfaces.
• Ensure proper site layout for efficient material handling, equipment placement, and personnel movement, minimizing disruption and ensuring safety.
• Ensure all civil works are executed strictly in accordance with approved design drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Implement and monitor the project's QA/QC plan for civil works. This includes conducting regular inspections, verifying materials, and documenting compliance.
• Review and approve method statements submitted by contractors to ensure civil construction procedures are safe, efficient, and meet quality requirements.
• Work closely with the site manager to align civil construction schedules with the overall project timeline, resource allocation, and site-wide safety protocols.
• Liaise with the commissioning team to ensure civil works are completed on time to allow for the installation, testing, and energizing of power cables.
• Coordination with Third Parties: Coordinate with third parties such as utility companies, local authorities, and other contractors to secure necessary permits, manage shared infrastructure, and resolve any interface issues.
• Regularly report on the progress of civil works to the project management team, highlighting any risks, issues, or delays.
• Prepare and manage accurate as-built drawings and documentation for all completed civil works.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proven experience in civil works for infrastructure projects, particularly underground power cable projects .
• Strong knowledge of site construction activities, excavation, ducting, and cable trenching .
• Familiarity with quality assurance standards, HSE regulations, and project specifications .
• Ability to coordinate effectively with site managers, commissioning teams, third parties, and HSE teams .
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site activities simultaneously.
