Job Summary

The Civil Engineer in a contracting company is responsible for managing and executing construction projects from initial planning to completion. This includes preparing designs, coordinating with consultants and clients, supervising site works, ensuring quality and safety compliance, and maintaining project schedules and budgets. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management, and field supervision to ensure successful delivery of civil and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Execution
  • Study project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to understand scope and requirements.
  • Assist in preparing project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
  • Monitor daily site activities to ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings and standards.
  • Technical & Design Support
  • Review and interpret civil/structural design drawings and resolve any design or technical issues.
  • Prepare shop drawings, bar bending schedules (BBS), and as-built drawings as required.
  • Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers for approvals and technical clarifications.
  • Site Supervision
  • Supervise and manage on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and timeline requirements.
  • Conduct inspections to verify material quality, workmanship, and compliance with specifications.
  • Manage labor, equipment, and materials efficiently to achieve project goals.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with project quality control procedures, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Prepare and maintain site reports, inspection requests, and other documentation for project records.
  • Participate in site meetings and coordinate with QA/QC and HSE teams.
  • Cost & Progress Control
  • Track material usage, labor output, and project progress against planned targets.
  • Identify potential delays or issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Support in preparing progress reports, quantity take-offs, and billing (interim and final).
