Key responsibilities
- Design &* drafting:* Produce and review civil design drawings, calculations, and specifications for roads, drainage, earthworks, utilities, foundations and structural elements as required.
- Project supervision: Supervise on-site construction activities, monitor workmanship, ensure conformance with design, quality standards and health & safety requirements.
- Site inspections &* testing:* Conduct regular site inspections, materials testing oversight, and verification of contractor deliverables; prepare inspection reports and non-conformance notices.
- Project planning &* scheduling:* Develop and maintain project schedules, review contractor programmes, and coordinate with contractors, consultants and stakeholders to meet milestones.
- Quantity surveying support: Prepare bill of quantities inputs, measure works, assess variations and support interim payment applications.
- Cost control &* reporting:* Monitor project costs, forecast expenditure, and report on budget variances to project managers and finance.
- Technical coordination: Liaise with multidisciplinary teams (structural, MEP, geotechnical, environmental) to resolve technical issues and coordinate design interfaces.
- Permits &* approvals:* Support preparation and submission of documentation for local approvals, permits and compliance with Qatari standards and municipal requirements.
- Risk management &* HSE:* Identify construction risks, implement mitigation measures, enforce site HSE procedures and ensure contractor compliance with safety regulations.
- As-built documentation: Prepare and maintain as-built drawings, operation & maintenance manuals and handover documentation.
- Quality assurance: Implement and monitor QA/QC processes, maintain inspection records and support third-party audits.
- Stakeholder engagement: Communicate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and authorities; attend progress meetings and present technical updates.
Qualifications & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ experience in civil engineering, site supervision or construction management; experience in Doha/Qatar or GCC projects preferred.
- Professional registration or chartered status (if applicable) desirable.
- Proficiency with design and drafting software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation) and engineering calculation tools.
- Familiarity with geotechnical reports, soil investigation interpretation and foundation design principles.
- Knowledge of local construction codes, Qatar standards and municipal requirements preferred.
- Strong report-writing, inspection and documentation skills.
- Competence in project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera) and MS Excel.
- Excellent communication in English; Arabic language skills advantageous.
- Valid Qatari work authorisation.
