Civil Engineer, EIT - Water

The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Civil Engineer, EIT to work in our Oklahoma City or Tulsa office. The successful candidate will provide engineering support for the water/wastewater group. Typical projects include a wide variety of municipal water and wastewater initiatives involving collection and conveyance systems, pump stations, storage and treatment facilities, and rehabilitation. This position is part of a team specializing in the engineering of public water systems to upgrade aging infrastructure, provide sustainable solutions, and offer innovative approaches that help preserve safe and reliable water delivery.

Position Summary:

The Civil Engineer, EIT provides technical and analytical support to the water/wastewater team in Oklahoma, contributing to the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects. This role supports senior engineers and project managers in developing sustainable and cost-effective engineering solutions that enhance public water and wastewater systems.

Essential Job Functions:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Demonstrated analytical, written, and verbal communication skills through academic or professional experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with municipal water or wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with the design-bid-build process, including engineering analysis, permitting, preparation of plans and specifications, cost estimating, and construction administration.
• Ability to work independently on engineering tasks while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform occasional field visits, including walking on uneven terrain at project and construction sites.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer and preparing technical documents.
• Ability to lift and carry plans, field equipment, or materials up to 25 pounds as needed.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

• Combination of office-based work and periodic field or construction site visits.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during site visits.
• Moderate noise levels in office settings and higher noise levels at construction sites.
• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required during fieldwork.
