Civil Engineer – Fiber Optic Cable Laying & Ducting
Doha, Qatar
Responsible for review designs, planning, coordinating, and supervising civil works related to the installation of fiber optic cables, including trenching, ducting, and infrastructure preparation. Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and engineering standards while minimizing disruption and optimizing project timelines.
Please note that this role is for a short-term engagement.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise Site Survey & Planning:
- Conduct site assessments to determine optimal cable routes based on client instructions.
- Identify existing utilities, potential obstacles and blockages.
- Coordinate with design teams to finalize trenching and duct layouts.
- Trenching & Ducting:
- Supervise trench excavation, duct placement, and backfilling.
- Ensure trench depth, width, and alignment meet project specifications.
- Implement protective measures for ducts (e.g., bedding, padding, compacting).
- Permits & Compliance:
- Liaise with sub-contractor to coordinate with local authorities for wayleaves and excavation permits.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Installation Support:
- Coordinate with fiber optic engineers during cable pulling and installation.
- Ensure ducts are clean, tested, and ready for cable deployment.
- Support air-assisted or mechanical cable installation methods.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain site records, inspection reports, and as-built drawings.
- Report progress, issues, and resolutions to project managers.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with subcontractors, utility providers, and internal teams.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience in telecom infrastructure or fiber optic projects preferred.
- Knowledge of trenching techniques, ducting standards, and safety protocols.

Familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, and project management tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
