  • Supervision of Construction: Directly oversee and supervise daily construction activities, including work on pipelines, pump stations, drainage networks, and other civil infrastructure. The ARE ensures work is performed according to approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Review and Approval of Documents: A primary role is to assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing and responding to a variety of contractor submissions. This includes scrutinizing shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and design proposals to ensure technical compliance.
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting: The ARE is responsible for tracking the project schedule and progress. They prepare regular reports (weekly and monthly) for the Resident Engineer and other stakeholders, detailing the status of the work, identifying potential delays, and suggesting solutions.
  • Quality Control & Non-Conformance: They are on the front line of quality assurance, identifying and documenting any non-conforming works. They generate reports and coordinate with the contractor to ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
  • Liaison with Authorities: A critical part of the job is to coordinate with various government departments and authorities in Dubai, such as Dubai Municipality (DM), to facilitate progress and obtain necessary clearances. This often involves attending and chairing meetings.
  • Team Leadership: They direct, assist, and monitor the performance of the site supervision staff, including inspectors and surveyors, to ensure a high standard of work and efficient site operations.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: They serve as a point of contact, interacting with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to resolve day-to-day project issues and ensure smooth communication.
  • Record Keeping: The ARE maintains meticulous site records, project logs, and "as-built" documentation. This is essential for the final handover of the project to the relevant service authorities.
