We are seeking a highly experienced and dual-qualified Civil Inspector and Land Surveyor to join our project team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and compliance of all civil works and land surveying activities for a significant building construction project. This role requires a proven background in civil works inspection and land surveying, with extensive experience gained while working as a consultant on building projects.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Civil Inspector:
- Conduct thorough inspections of all civil works, including earthworks, foundations, concrete structures, masonry, finishes, and infrastructure, ensuring strict adherence to project specifications, drawings, and international/local building codes.
- Monitor and verify contractor's work methods, materials, and equipment for compliance with approved standards and quality control plans.
- Witness and review all relevant tests (e.g., concrete slump tests, cube tests, compaction tests, rebar inspections) and maintain comprehensive records.
- Identify and report any non-conformances, defects, or deviations from design, tracking corrective actions until resolution.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure accurate execution on-site.
- Participate in site meetings, contributing expertise on QA/QC matters and progress reporting.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
As a Land Surveyor:
- Perform accurate setting out of building elements, control points, and infrastructure components as per design drawings.
- Conduct topographical surveys, as-built surveys, and verification surveys to ensure dimensional accuracy and record existing conditions.
- Operate and maintain a full range of surveying equipment, including Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, automatic levels, and other relevant tools.
- Process survey data, prepare detailed survey reports, and generate accurate drawings using CAD software.
- Verify the accuracy of contractor's survey activities and control points.
- Establish and maintain survey control networks for the project.
- Provide technical guidance on surveying principles and practices to the project team.
General & Consultant Responsibilities:
- Act as a key representative of the consultant team, providing independent oversight and technical expertise.
- Liaise effectively with contractors, client representatives, and the project management team.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspection, surveying activities, progress, and communications.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports outlining site activities, observations, and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Land Surveying, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience: A minimum of Ten (10) years of progressive and demonstrable experience in both Civil Works Inspection and Land Surveying roles.
- Consultant Background: Mandatory proven experience working specifically as a consultant on large-scale building construction projects.
- Buildings Experience: Extensive hands-on experience in the inspection and surveying of multi-story building structures, including knowledge of various construction methodologies and materials.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and QA/QC procedures.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting modern surveying equipment (Total Stations, GPS, Levels).
- Competency in using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other relevant surveying software.
- Familiarity with relevant local and international building codes, standards, and specifications.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
Contract Duration: This is an initial 6-month contract position with a strong possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.
Start Date: The ideal candidate will be available for an immediate start, pending successful client approval.
