Civil Laboratory Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Civil Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our material testing laboratory. The role involves supervising lab staff, ensuring compliance with international testing standards, maintaining quality control, and coordinating with clients, consultants, and contractors. The supervisor will be responsible for smooth execution of testing works, timely reporting, and adherence to UAE regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., EIAC ISO/IEC 17025).

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage daily laboratory operations, including scheduling and monitoring testing activities for soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
• Ensure all laboratory tests are performed in accordance with ASTM, BS, AASHTO, and local municipality standards.
• Lead, train, and monitor laboratory technicians to maintain high-quality testing practices.
• Review and approve test reports before submission to clients/consultants.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and in proper working condition.
• Implement and monitor quality assurance (QA/QC) procedures in line with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
• Coordinate with clients, site engineers, and project teams regarding sample collection, testing schedules, and technical queries.
• Maintain laboratory safety standards and ensure staff compliance with HSE requirements.
• Monitor staff performance, assign responsibilities, and resolve operational issues.
• Assist in audits, certifications, and accreditations related to laboratory operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering (or related field).
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in a civil/material testing laboratory, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of ASTM, BS, AASHTO, and local UAE standards for material testing.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory accreditation procedures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Ability to prepare, review, and interpret technical test reports.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) is an advantage.

Other Requirements:

• Valid UAE driving license preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to coordinate between laboratory and project sites when required.
