Civil Laboratory Technician

Job Summary

Falcon Laboratory is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Lab Technician to oversee and perform testing of construction materials including soil, concrete, aggregates, and asphalt. The role involves supervising junior technicians, ensuring compliance with ASTM/AASHTO/BS standards, and maintaining high-quality laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and supervise laboratory testing of:
• Soil (compaction, CBR, Atterberg limits, sieve analysis, etc.)
• Concrete (slump, compressive strength, flexural strength, mix design support)
• Aggregates (gradation, specific gravity, impact value)
• Asphalt (Marshall stability, bitumen content, extraction tests)
• Ensure all testing is conducted in accordance with ASTM, BS, AASHTO, or relevant local standards.
• Review and verify test results before submission to engineers or clients.
• Supervise and mentor junior lab technicians and assistants.
• Maintain proper calibration and preventive maintenance of lab equipment.
• Prepare and validate laboratory reports and documentation.
• Coordinate with site teams for sampling and testing schedules.
• Assist laboratory manager in audits, accreditation processes, and quality control procedures.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality management systems.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 2-3+ years of experience in construction materials testing laboratory.
• Strong knowledge of international testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS).
• Experience handling laboratory audits and accreditation requirements (ISO 17025 preferred).
• Proficiency in MS Office and laboratory reporting systems.
