Responsibilities:
The Quantity Surveyor/Estimation Engineer is responsible for managing all financial and contractual aspects of construction projects. This includes quantity take-off, cost estimation, budget control, procurement, contract administration, and cost analysis. The role involves collaboration with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are executed efficiently and cost-effectively.
Duties include:
- Study drawings, BOQ, and contract documents to fully understand the project scope
- Prepare quantity take-offs and BOQs from drawings (tender & IFC)
- Assist in cost estimation and tender preparation, including checking supplier and subcontractor prices
- Monitor project costs and highlight any budget overruns or risks
- Verify Material Requisitions (MRFs) against project budget and specifications
- Identify and prepare variation orders (VOs) when there are changes or discrepancies
- Support in preparing claims and supporting documents (quantities, rate build-ups, etc.)
- Track site progress, prepare client invoices, and follow up for approvals
- Measure work done on site and prepare payment certificates for subcontractors
- Perform quantity take-offs for variations and final accounts
- Conduct regular site visits to verify quantities and progress
- Coordinate with site, engineering, and planning teams for accurate reporting
- Assist in preparing cost reports and cost-to-complete forecasts
- Support in project close-out and final account settlement
- Analyze tender document and prepare competitive bids
Skills, qualifications, and experience
To become Quantity Surveyor/Estimation Engineer, professionals should have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or any related field.
Skills and experience can include:
- 3-5 years of Proven experience in cost estimation and quantity surveying within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software (AutoCAD, Planswift, etc.).
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and industry regulations.
- A deep understanding of construction materials, methods, and industry standards is essential.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and Office management software
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
