Civil Sexual Assault Associate Attorney

Bachus & Schanker, LLC — a leading Colorado plaintiff’s personal injury law firm — is seeking a Civil Sexual Assault Associate Attorney to join our growing litigation team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced litigator or former prosecutor with a passion for victim advocacy to represent survivors of sexual assault and abuse in civil court.

Our firm is dedicated to providing compassionate, courageous, and justice-focused representation to survivors of trauma. The ideal candidate will have civil litigation experience or prior experience as a Deputy District Attorney in the sexual assault or special victims unit.

This position provides the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while also enjoying strong firm support, a collaborative environment, and access to significant resources including dedicated paralegal staff, legal technology, and expert litigation support.

Responsibilities

• Represent survivors of sexual assault and abuse in civil litigation from case intake through trial or resolution.
• Investigate claims and evaluate third-party liability, including institutional negligence or failure to act.
• Draft and respond to pleadings, discovery, and pre-trial motions.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Prepare expert disclosures and manage expert relationships.
• Work closely with survivors, providing trauma-informed client advocacy and legal counsel.
• Negotiate settlements and, when necessary, advocate vigorously at trial to ensure full and fair compensation.

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Colorado.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in civil litigation, personal injury, or criminal prosecution of sex crimes.
• Experience handling sensitive cases involving trauma survivors preferred.
• Strong understanding of Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure and civil discovery practices.
• Demonstrated courtroom and trial experience preferred.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Extreme attention to detail, strong organizational ability, and a commitment to providing superior client service.

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive base salary with commission-based bonus structure (opportunity to earn $125,000–$200,000).
