What You'll Be Doing

Job Summary: Generally responsible for the design and modeling of site grading, stormwater management systems, pressure pipe networks, and other infrastructure utility layouts under the direct supervision of a Civil Engineer or Lead Designer Overall, you will be supporting teams of engineers and designers on a wide variety of projects including site development, infrastructure, and industrial design. This work will be performed at our office in Mobile, AL. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity offering full benefits, competitive pay, and upward mobility opportunities. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Experience preparing civil engineering construction and permitting drawings on small to large projects.
  • Demonstrated capability to design with supervisor oversight.
  • Work with design teams on developing and coordinating project coordinate systems.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others
  • Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards
  • Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies
  • Perform fieldwork to gather data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support
  • Perform land development and zoning code research for civil-site development projects
  • Review and check submittal drawings and documentation

Ideal Background

Education: Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.

Certification: Certification is not required at this level.

Experience: This position requires up to 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in civil-site or civil-utility engineering design in the industrial setting. Previous experience in commercial, government, or infrastructure setting may be considered for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, maintaining focus and re-prioritizing as necessary to meet multiple commitments
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD Civil3D for preparing grading plans and developing surface models, pipe network, pressure pipe network, and earthwork quantities is a must
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to actively listen and ascertain the needs of Teammates and Clients
  • Ability to work with a team to complete small and large projects
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed, and able to provide interoffice execution leadership and support
  • MicroStation and ArcGIS experience a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of Revit and/or BIM a plus but not required.
