Civil Site Engineer (Metal Industries)

  • Develop and design structural systems and components for metal fabrication projects (e.g., stair balustrades, frames, secondary steel).
  • Perform structural analysis and load calculations to ensure safety, stability, and compliance with codes/standards.
  • Select appropriate materials, sections, and connection types.
  • Use design and analysis software like STAAD Pro, ETABS, AutoCAD, Tekla or similar tools.

2. Preparation of Engineering Documentation

  • Prepare and review detailed drawings, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), technical specifications, and calculation packages.
  • Review and approve shop drawings from draftsmen and fabrication teams.
  • Produce reports and technical documentation for internal use or client submission.

3. Liaison & Coordination

  • Coordinate with project managers, draftsmen, fabricators, and site teams to ensure engineering intent is clearly communicated and executed.
  • Work with consultants, contractors, and suppliers on design clarifications and approvals.
  • Support procurement by verifying technical submittals (e.g., materials, fabrication details).

4. Site Support & Inspection

  • Conduct site visits/inspections to monitor fabrication, assembly, and installation quality.
  • Ensure structural works comply with design, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical support during onsite challenges or modifications.

5. Quality, Safety, and Compliance

  • Ensure all engineered components and processes comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Liaise with quality control teams to verify materials and fabrication quality.
  • Review risk assessments and method statements related to structural activities.

6. Project Management Support

  • Assist in planning project timelines and deliverables where engineering input is needed.
  • Track progress of engineering deliverables and help resolve delays.
  • Support cost estimation and engineering changes for fabrication tasks.

Skills & Qualifications (Typical)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred for more advanced roles).
  • Proficiency with structural design software and drafting tools.
  • Strong knowledge of steel and metal behaviour, load-bearing principles, and structural standards.
  • Good communication, coordination, and technical documentation skills.
  • Experience in fabrication environments (steel/metal) or construction sectors is a plus.
