1. Technical Documentation and Submittals

  • Shop Drawings: Develop detailed, coordinated, and accurate shop drawings for all civil/structural works (e.g., concrete elements, rebar detailing, foundations, earthworks, infrastructure utilities) based on the approved design drawings.
  • Material Submittals: Prepare, compile, and submit Material Approval Requests (MARs) for all civil materials (e.g., concrete, rebar, aggregates, waterproofing, structural steel) to the Consultant/Client for approval, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Method Statements: Prepare and finalize comprehensive Method Statements for all key civil and structural activities (e.g., excavation, dewatering, concrete pouring, formwork, specialized civil works) to ensure safe and compliant execution.
  • Review and Coordination: Thoroughly review and coordinate Architectural, Structural, MEP, and Civil design drawings to identify and resolve clashes and discrepancies before issuing information to the site.

2. Site Coordination and Technical Support

  • RFI Management: Manage the Request for Information (RFI) process. Draft clear, concise, and technically sound RFIs to the Consultant/Client to resolve all site queries, missing details, and technical conflicts promptly.
  • As-Built Drawings: Oversee the preparation and finalization of as-built drawings and comprehensive project closeout documentation for civil works.
  • Quantity Support: Collaborate with the Quantity Surveyor (QS) to provide verified quantities for variation orders (VOs), material procurement, and payment applications.
  • Site Liaison: Provide immediate technical guidance and interpretation of drawings and specifications to the Site Execution Team and Foremen to prevent delays and rework.

3. Quality Assurance and Control

  • Compliance: Ensure that all drawings, documents, and construction methods comply with the project specifications, relevant local authority regulations (e.g., Dubai Municipality, RTA), and international standards.
  • Inspection Support: Prepare and manage the Inspection Request (IR) forms for the Quality Control team, ensuring all required documentation and checks are in place before consultant inspection.
  • Quality Plan: Assist in implementing the project's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plan for all civil activities.

4. Planning and Progress Monitoring

  • Scheduling Input: Collaborate with the Planning Engineer to provide technical input for the detailed construction schedule, particularly concerning lead times for material approvals and shop drawing production.
  • Progress Reporting: Assist the Project Manager in preparing technical progress reports, highlighting key milestones achieved and any potential technical or design-related roadblocks.
