<Duties>

  • Assist attorneys with case management in family law, civil litigation, and other practice areas such as estate planning, landlord-tenant law, and criminal law
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies
  • Draft, review, and proofread legal documents including pleadings, contracts, discovery requests, and correspondence with meticulous attention to detail
  • Manage document review and organization within document management systems like Smokeball for efficient case handling
  • Coordinate client interviews and gather essential information through effective interviewing techniques
  • Prepare case files for court proceedings, including filing documents electronically or in person according to jurisdictional requirements
  • Support project management tasks such as tracking deadlines, court dates, and client communications to ensure timely case progression
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, filing, phone etiquette, and maintaining organized case records

<Experience>

  • Paralegal experience in family law or civil litigation is highly preferred; experience across multiple practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, or securities law is a plus
  • Familiarity with legal research platforms like Westlaw and LexisNexis; proficiency in legal case management software such as iManage or PCLaw; Clio and Smokeball
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining accuracy
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; proofreading and transcription skills are essential
  • Experience with document review processes and contract management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct effective interviews and gather critical case information
  • Knowledge of legal administrative procedures including filing protocols and court procedures in various jurisdictions
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating humility and eagerness to learn

We are looking for a Paralegal with ideally a minimum 1 year of experience to join our team although we are willing to consider a newbie with motivation to learn. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of legal procedures and protocols, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients and other legal professionals. The Paralegal will be responsible for providing administrative support to attorneys, preparing legal documents, conducting research, and managing case files. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join a growing legal team.

The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will be responsible for supporting the firm’s Attorneys with cases from inception to completion. Primarily reporting and working directly with the firm's lead attorney who primarily works in Civil Litigation, Family and Criminal Law. We are looking for someone who is smart, has a strong attention to detail, quick learner, and can excel in a fast-paced work environment. Working directly with the senior partner and associates.

We are looking for two (2) paralegals, one whose workload would be focused on Civil Litigation and one whose workload will be focused on Family Law matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Research legal issues and prepare summaries of findings.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Organize and maintain case files.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and closings.
  • Interview witnesses and gather evidence for attorneys.
  • Prepare legal documents for filing with court systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal briefs, memoranda, and other documents.
  • Efficient in billable hours.

The more autonomously you can work, the more valuable you are and the better you will be compensated.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30-40 per week
